As a therapist, I believe therapy is a powerful component of self-care and self-love. Therapy, especially Somatic Experiencing, is good at metabolizing trauma so it's no longer holding us back from doing the important work we are here to do. Combined with other tools such as community and access to resources, therapy can be a potent force for positive change. I envision therapeutic work as part of social and environmental justice, which naturally has a dynamic relationship with individual healing.
One of my passions is working with folks to resolve trauma symptoms and relieve chronic stress. These symptoms can be the result of acute trauma, secondary trauma, and/or traumas of oppression and marginalization. Symptoms like anxiety, depression, PTSD, and general feelings of stuckness, whether associated with a trauma or not, are a reality for many people. The work I do is all about addressing those symptoms and that trauma in a powerful and embodied way so you can move forward in your life.
I am specifically informed and experienced in working with the queer, trans*, and LGBTQIA communities (or QUILTBAG if you will) on issues related, and not related, to gender and/or sexuality. As a queer and trans person myself, I am committed to providing culturally competent healing work for the QUILTBAG community.
This work with trans* clients can include informed consent for people accessing gender-confirming health care.
