Chad Corbley, Ph.D.
City Counseling: A Home for Growth
Chad is trained as a generalist, but areas of particular interest include GLB and trans concerns, HIV/AIDS, and survivors of trauma.
I've been seeing Chad for over two years now, and have had an overwhelmingly positive experience. It took me a long time to find the right therapist, but once I did, I'm grateful that I found Chad and the team at Affirmations. He is both approachable and engaging in his methods. (It's also nice to have a therapist with whom I can share Star Trek jokes.)
In addition, Chad in no way subscribes to the traditional gatekeeper model of care. He is far from an authoritarian figure and I feel that our sessions are truly collaborative in nature. In that vein, I also feel that I in no way have to subscribe to traditional stereotypes and processes of transition, or am otherwise forced into a certain course of action, to receive the care I deserve.
Coming from a background in which I've examined gender and sexuality from both an academic and activism perspective, it's refreshing to have a therapist with whom I can feel comfortable not only unpacking my thoughts, but also discussing some of the sociological forces that influence how I may think and/or feel a certain way.
Overall, I would highly recommend Chad for individuals seeking a therapist.
