Tri-State Alliance Youth Group
The TSA Youth Group is a safe place for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth under the age of 21, and their straight supporting friends/allies. The TSA Youth Group is coordinated by an HIV Prevention Outreach Director, and staffed by a group of volunteers, which include a professional licensed social worker, a social work student, a business professional, an HIV/STD Disease Intervention Specialist, a local Career Counselor, and a Substance Abuse Counselor.
When I was first transitioning, this group was a big part of my life. Some of my best friends to this day (7 years later) are those I met in this group. I felt accepted though I also "passed" fairly well by this point. I was in college at the time.
However, I don't think the group does enough for trans-inclusion. The youth have to make that space themselves, which can be hard if someone is just figuring themselves out. But as the only youth specific LGBTQ resource that I am aware of in the area, it can be a place to do that, but you will probably have to self-advocate for your needs.
