Dana received her doctorate in clinical psychology at the Michigan School of Professional Psychology. Her dissertation research investigated the transforming power of self-compassion in people who struggle with body image and weight problems. Dana practices from a Humanistic-Existential background, which focuses on authenticity, honesty, human potential, creativity, life's necessary losses, and the healing power of a therapeutic relationship.

Dana's areas of professional interest include resolving emotional eating, ADHD, trauma, MBSR (mindfulness based stress reduction, including self-compassion meditation), grief/loss, LGBTQ advocacy (including non-binary sex and gender characteristics and transgender issues), codependency, and helping others experience fulfillment in their unique development and individual personality.

Has signed Affirmations' Community Standards of Practice, a twelve point document that asserts that a provider's health care services are inclusive of the diversity found in the LGBTQ communities.
