This place is incredibly unsafe for trans people.

The social worker assigned to my case outed me to my family without consent. The orderlies seemed to have no training in dealing with transgender people, and constantly misgendered me, and asked inappropriate and invasive questions. The doctor was no better. He was much more interested in asking about what surgeries I have had for transitioning than any psychiatric concerns. After leaving the facility, I requested a copy of my patient records out of curiosity. They continued to misgender me in those as well, and the majority of their information concerned speculation about my genitalia.

I had no access to hormones while staying there, and I also was not able to keep my assistive devices with me.

Orderlies were also abusive to other patients. They denied patients bedding for annoying them, and they made ableist comments about several of the patients to their faces.

The only respectful or helpful treatment I experienced here was from other patients. If you're having a psychiatric emergency, this is absolutely not a good place to seek help.
