Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center
I have nothing but great things to say about this experience. Dr. Shore is well informed and genuinely all about the patient. I felt celebrated and well supported. She even snapped at my after care nurses for misgendering me.
I am 6 months post op and feel very pleased with the results. Dr. Shore is very skilled and personable.
Dr. Shore did an amazing job on my chest. I had a masculinizing double mastectomy with nipple grafts. I am now 12 days post-op and incredibly happy. I'm a smaller guy (135 pounds and 5' 6") who had a large chest before. Dr. Shore clearly has a lot of experience with chests because she did an amazing job. My incisions are clean. The thing that really makes Dr. Shore stand out among surgeons though is her personality and the care she has for her patients. The last thing I remember before going under is her hand on my side reassuring me as I fell asleep. She is patient and will take the time to answer all of my questions. She cares about how I feel and listens and responds to words about feelings and emotions. She wants you to love your chest and it is clear. She always has fresh flowers in her office. I considered going with Garramone but retrospectively am so glad I went with someone who is nurturing and also produces amazing results. I have heard of a lot of surgeons ignoring their patients once the surgery is done and Shore did the opposite. She called to check in on me the night after the surgery, she answered calls immedietely and she had plenty of check-up appointments for me to make sure everything was healing well and I was satisfied. Gazelle her office manager is incredibly helpful with the process of getting insurance approval. She answers all of your questions, calls your insurance, and is very upbeat and reassuring. Shore is in network for most BCBS plans (check with your plan though and ask Gazelle too). If you are thinking about Obama care get BCBS hmo advocate and they may cover you 100%. Mine was covered 70% by BCBS PPO.
I recently had gender affirming top surgery with Dr. Shore, and I'm also a surgical technologist that works with some of the best surgeons in Chicago. From the perspective of both a patient and someone who operates with surgeons everyday I am impressed and pleased with Dr. Shores surgical skills and bedside manner. My incisions are some of the best I've ever seen at only 4 weeks post op and have been all along cleaner and more precise than I even hoped for. Dr. Shore's staff is also always professional, pleasant, and welcoming. I've also worked in operating rooms across Chicago and in the suburbs and I have to say the staff at Illinois Masonic made me feel as well taken care of as I would have had I been able to be my own caregiver. I have no plans for more plastic surgery in the future, but if I had I'd be going back to Dr. Shore.
I had a double incision mastectomy with free nipple grafts. Dr Shore is very skilled, compassionate, and very friendly. She answered all my questions in a way that was easy to understand and walked me through the process so that I would know what to expect. She used gender affirming language in her appointments with me -and even corrected herself (without prompting from me) when she referred to the post-surgical vest as being akin to a sports bra. Her checking herself on language like that added to my comfort as a trans person in her care. I'm thrilled with my results. Highly recommend!
Wonderful experience all around. I do need to drop some weight before she will do my surgery. But she is the one I will use.
I only really have good things to say about this provider. She is professional, warm, and attentive to detail. I would absolutely recommend her to folks in need of breast surgery.
Dr. Shore's office and her work are stellar. I had double incision with her and was pleased by my results as well as her bedside manner AND her office manager's demeanor and professionalism. Dr. Shore took all of my anxieties into account as I had never had surgery and explained things in a way that I could understand and have realistic expectations for what my chest would look like. I told her that breast cancer runs in my family and she said that all material removed is automatically sent to pathology to be analyzed, so I felt really safe in her hands. She also does not have issues with trans men who want to have their own kids, so if breastfeeding is something you're interested in I would absolutely bring it up in your discussion with her. She is very down to earth and will be very honest in your discussions with her.
