Ms. Holmes was extremely cruel to me, and made me feel very bad about myself. After four sessions I started to see her out at bars in the LGBTQ community, and she was always very drunk and flirtatious, sometimes to the point of hanging on me and strangers. It was very confusing to me because we had such deep conversations, then there was this friction where she acted like she’d known me my whole life, then would give me this “I’m your friend” kind of advice. I felt powerless, like I was under her spell. It was so dysfunctional I had to cut her out of my life completely and even avoid casual places I knew she would frequent. It took me nearly two years to start seeing another therapist. We’ve talked a lot about Ms. Holmes behavior and it still makes me feel stupid and gullible. She twisted my brain into feeling things that were unreal out of some strange sense of narcissism. Highly unprofessional but she was so beautiful I couldn’t resist her cruel ways.
I see Cynthia for gender related issues and my spouse sees Andrew for other things. Both therapists are fantastic; they genuinely care about you, while simultaneously calling you on your bullshit. I'm a huge fan of CBM.
