La Luz Midwifery Services (This is what I am calling my Home IUI service, however I am not licensed in NC to practice midwifery and am not promoting myself as a full-on midwife at this time).
My name is Reina Galjour and I have been a direct-entry midwife (CPM) since 2004. I have worked in other states/countries since then (not in NC due to legal regulations of direct-entry midwifery) which include El Paso TX (6.5 years), Haiti (3 years) and Salt Lake City UT (9 months). I live in Snow Camp, NC with my partner and 3 year old child.
I am now offering home intrauterine insemination (IUI) services within the LGBTQIA community (and for straight and cis folks). IUI is a simple procedure performed under sterile technique, in which sperm is directly introduced into the top portion of the uterus. This can be done with either cryo (frozen) sperm from a sperm bank, or donated (fresh) sperm which is processed on site and then used. I am also offering other related services, including: pre-conception counseling, postpartum and lactation support.
In my everyday life, I strive to be ""the change I wish to see in the world"" by embodying anti-racism, anti-heteropatriarchy, anti-cissexism, and working to dismantle all other intersecting forms of oppression, while simultaneously creating and participating in a paradigm where all people can thrive. As an experienced midwife, I understand the vulnerability that is inherent in spaces of working closely with peoples' bodies--from pre-conception through postpartum and infant feeding. My goal and hope is to provide care for folks that feels empowering and that does not contribute to dysphoria in any way.
Every day, 9-5. We can work around each others' schedules.
